Animal ER of Northwest Houston is a 24-hour veterinary emergency hospital offering comprehensive emergency and critical care services for pets in the Northwest Houston area, available 365 days a year. Meet Dr. Michelle Withrow, DVM
Hospital Owner, ER Veterinarian
Owner of the Animal ER of Northwest Houston, Dr. Withrow grew up in Ponca City, OK where she raised several interesting pets including dogs, rabbits (domestic and cottontail), turtles, chameleons, fish, pheasants, and sheep. She discovered her love of veterinary medicine while volunteering at a mixed animal practice when she was twelve, and she followed this interest throughout her undergraduate degree by volunteering at several veterinary clinics while pursuing her bachelor of science in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology with a minor in Economics from Oklahoma State University. She went on to graduate with honors from the OSU Center for Veterinary Health Sciences in the top of her class while participating in numerous professional organizations and leadership activities.

Dr. Winthrow is the most caring vet. Our 11.5 year old dog had his Spleen removed last Thursday. They sent our dog home too early. He was laying in his drool and couldn’t lift his head. I panicked for good reason. Dr Winthrow calmed us down, kept him overnight for observation and gave us updates throughout the night. I’m so thankful for this earth angel. We were really scared bc our dog also has heart issues. He’s home now and looking fantastic!!! Thank you to Dr. Winthrow and her staff on Friday (3/1) night.

I am thankful for this ER vet we found last night. We had an emergency with our 14 year old boxer that ultimately led us to putting her down. I am very appreciative of how upfront and honest they were with how we should handle things a long with how upfront they were with the cost. We had a wonderful team working with Anna last night. And I’m thankful they gave us all the time to have with our last few moment with our baby. I really hope I never have to come here again. But in the off chance I do have to come to a 24 hr vet. Absolutely amazing ER! I came here when my baby Sebastian was bleeding internally from unsuspected liver cancer. Everyone was so kind and supportive and helped me explore all possibilities before determining it was time to help him cross the rainbow bridge. While deeply saddened, the process was smooth, cost efficient, and so caring of my situation. They even sent me a sympathy card that everyone signed and I couldn’t be more grateful. The urn I purchased came with a paw print and print of his nose and they’re beautiful. I miss Sebastian more than anything but I’m so thankful for the support of everyone here. ❤️❤️

This was by far the most amazing vet experience I’ve ever had. Every single person that was involved with our fur baby’s case was fantastic. They were extremely comforting during the entire process all the way from diagnosis to the day we got to pick our baby up. They took extra care of our baby and made sure we were updated very often. They even sent us photos! They made it possible for us to bring Luci home a healthy puppy again! Thank you to everyone at this vet hospital that took care of our sweet Luci!

If you are needing to see a veterinary on the weekends or at night. This is the place to come for they make sure to be upfront about everything and make sure you know what is going on at all times. The staff there is very friendly and knowledgeable and willing to answer any questions. They really try to make you and your animal companion feel comfortable throughout your visit.

This is such a wonderful place. They are so kind and compassionate. They were really supportive! We had to take our dear Sadie in at 3 in the morning. She was declining fast and we knew we had to find somewhere to take her. And of course we knew she was not gonna make it. They were so understanding and offered a great deal of help. The process was quick and they were so kind and gentle. I appreciate Chloe, Stephanie, and Dr. Yeng They Truly are remarkable individuals. I took my very sick baby recommended by another vet. They were extremely sypathic to our needs and she was in critical condition they took the time to explain and not judge. Our baby had surgery the same night and was able to come home much later in the night. Thank you again so much you guys are awesome!!

Any time you have to come here it is not the best circumstances. I understand the pain and fear that could lead to some of these bad reviews. All I can say is my little guy would not be here beside me right now if not for the care of this team. Yes, 5 days in the ER was expensive, but we would have been devastated to lose him. Everyone here was caring, helpful, and worked to keep us informed. Thank you for giving us more years with our Ragnar.

The big thing you need to know is that it has changed ownership and is a much much better place than it used to be! I have had 2 animals need to go in the last several months and they did an excellent job in both cases, They did not overcharge for things that we did not need, The staff and the vets were all very knowledgeable, And I felt like they definitely had my Animals best interest at heart and were not Is trying to sell any services that I did not need. I'm very proud of how they are doing at this point and I will definitely recommend them at this point!

Everyone from the front desk to the technicians and doctor were extremely pleasant. The techs were very knowledgeable and handled my baby dog really well even when she was aggressive. The doctor was thorough. They even had a personalized name plate on her door while we were there. The place was nice and clean .

From the phone to the exit this place was absolutely amazing! My little Levi was playing and his eye popped out of socket. Being an attached fur momma this sent me into a panic and tears. Due to the trauma the eye could not be saved. I was far from calm however every person from the front desk, tech and doctor stay calm for me. They explained everything so well, loved on Levi (and me) and treated him with the best care. Came back to have his stitches removed and received the same treatment. If you have an emergency then go somewhere that’s going love your baby like you do. This place does that!!

I just want to take a moment to express our gratitude for the compassionate and quality care the staff at Animal ER of Northwest Houston showed us last night. We had to bring our 16-year-old Maltese, Daisy, in around 9pm as she was in distress after a 2-year battle with a tumor and her age. They helped ease her pain and ease the process of her leaving this world. They walked us through each step and did not rush us. We appreciate their prompt care and patient approach.
